Funky Monkey Studio is a fitness studio with a difference. It is a place to come and take exercise classes, but more than that it is a place to get fit while having fun.

We want to help people live healthy, happy lifestyles and discover the disciplines that work for them, making exercise a choice for life and not a chore! The studio is a bright, positive and vibrant place close to the city centre, we aim to make students feel safe and confident as they embark on a journey to improve their own health, well being and happiness. We are an open community of people from varied backgrounds and we nurture those who join us, we encourage creativeness and self confidence in everyone that we can.

My mission is to provide a bright positive vibrant place close to the city centre. I strive to provide a place where people feel safe and confident, a place where people can start to make the changes necessary to improve their own health and happiness, to get back their mojo and acquire a joie de vivre. My aim is for the Funky Monkey Studio to be a breeding ground for dancers, body workers and anybody who loves to develop their mind and body.  A place where creative talent can grow. My dream is to be the host at this place of sanctuary.

  • henparty-vv-sm I am just emailing to say a huge THANK YOU for an amazing experience at our pole dancing class in September. It was for a hen party and the bride and all the hens had a brilliant afternoon! Our instructor Vania was superb, she made everyone feel at ease and gave us a great party, taught us some great moves, and she was also amazing at pole dancing herself! We only booked the class two weeks before the hen weekend but we are so glad we did!  We are all a little achy and bruised but we had a brilliant laugh - and we all want to pursue pole dancing further!! Many thanks!

  • Alice is inspirational as a teacher: she manages to make everything look easy, then supports you every step of the way when you realise it isn't. Her style of teaching breaks every new move down into manageable chunks so they aren't too daunting and the small wins along the way make the end goal seem achievable. She has a wonderful way of bringing together people of all ages and beliefs and, most importantly, fosters a collegiate culture amongst her students that creates a friendly, supportive environment that encourages everyone to participate. If only all fitness instructors could be like Alice, we'd be a fitter, happier, healthier society!

  • Alice is a fantastic yoga teacher and really tunes into your needs. Yoga has helped me gain strength both physically and emotionally. I have less headaches, stomach and back problems, and I do actually sleep better after a class. I have learnt to tune into my breath, and have more energy to fill my day. Alice is a brilliant teacher and a wonderful person. Alice guides you through the yoga moves, and inspires each of us to go that bit further. Alice gets to know each persons strengths and weaknesses, and helps us to achieve our own 'yoga' goal posts.   • I am always grateful for the really strong grounding I got from your teachings, and for you getting me started with mysore practice. I often find myself thinking of the things I learnt from you. Whenever I am tempted to skip a vinyasa, I remember your teaching on jumping back and through in Turkey (and the importance of working on it everytime), so I skip very few (if any!). Thank you too, as I don't think I ever really said at the time that your classes were a place of sanctuary during what was a pretty tough time for me (when I lived Bath and Bristol).

  • If I was only allowed to do one form of exercise it would be Ashtanga. It has given the best body tone I’ve ever had together with an unprecedented body awareness and confidence. Every session you are rewarded with one or two little improvements to spur you on, as you notice slight improvements in postures you previously thought impossible. Once you start getting the knack of timing movement with breathing you can get into a trance like state, lost in another world far away from everyday hassles. Alice has been brilliant, allowing me to develop at my own pace, providing a calm assured presence that never distracts or jars, always there where you need her, ready with sage advice. My biggest regret? I wish I had started 40 years ago.
